Sentence Patterns HSK5
This graded pair makes a point by going one step further: not to mention the first case, even the second case does it. The surprising second case proves the first.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
别说 + A，就是 + B + 也 + result. The sentence says a fact holds even for B, so it certainly holds for A. 这个字别说小学生，就是大学生也常常写错。
别说 + A，就是 + B + 也 + परिणाम। वाक्य बताता है कि कोई बात B के लिए भी सच है, इसलिए A के लिए निश्चित ही सच है। 这个字别说小学生，就是大学生也常常写错।
别说你，就是老师也答不上来。 他别说英语，就是自己的方言也说不清楚。 这里别说冬天，就是夏天也很冷。 别说一百块，就是十块钱他也拿不出来。
别说你，就是老师也答不上来। तुम्हारी तो बात छोड़िए, शिक्षक भी उत्तर नहीं दे पाएँगे। 他别说英语，就是自己的方言也说不清楚। वह अंग्रेज़ी की तो बात छोड़िए, अपनी बोली भी साफ़ नहीं बोलता। 这里别说冬天，就是夏天也很冷। यहाँ सर्दी की तो बात छोड़िए, गर्मी में भी ठंड है।
This pattern is common in complaints, jokes and news to stress how common or serious something is: 别说周末，就是平时这里也挤满了人。 The second case is chosen to surprise the listener.
यह प्रतिरूप शिकायत, हास्य और समाचार में यह ज़ोर देने के लिए आता है कि कोई बात कितनी आम या गंभीर है: 别说周末，就是平时这里也挤满了人। दूसरा पक्ष श्रोता को चौंकाने के लिए चुना जाता है।
The pair is fixed: 别说…就是, not 别说…但是. A missing 也 after the second case also sounds unfinished. 别说他，就是我但是不去 sounds broken; the correct form is 别说他，就是我也不去。
यह जोड़ा स्थिर है: 别说…就是, न कि 别说…但是। दूसरे पक्ष के बाद 也 छूटने से वाक्य अधूरा लगता है। 别说他，就是我但是不去 टूटा लगता है; सही रूप 别说他，就是我也不去 है।
Think of it as two steps down a ladder: the first case is out of reach, and the second case makes the point. Practise with everyday topics such as price, weather and ability.
इसे सीढ़ी के दो क़दमों की तरह समझिए: पहला पक्ष पहुँच से बाहर है और दूसरा पक्ष बात सिद्ध करता है। कीमत, मौसम और योग्यता जैसे रोज़ के विषयों के साथ अभ्यास कीजिए।
In HSK 5 reading the blank often falls on 就是: 别说孩子，____大人也不懂。 The distractors 但是 and 因为 change the meaning, while 就是 keeps the graded emphasis.
HSK 5 पठन में रिक्त स्थान प्रायः 就是 पर होता है: 别说孩子，____大人也不懂। ग़लत विकल्प 但是 और 因为 अर्थ बदल देते हैं, जबकि 就是 क्रमिक ज़ोर बनाए रखता है।
Q1. 把 “别说你，就是老师也答不上来。” 译成英语。
