除了...以外 can mean except or besides; the second half decides which, using 都 for except and 还 or 也 for besides.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
除了 + noun + 以外 opens the phrase. With 都 it excludes: 除了小明以外，大家都来了 (everyone came except Xiaoming). With 还 or 也 it adds: 除了汉语以外，他还会英语 (besides Chinese, he also knows English).
除了 + संज्ञा + 以外 वाक्यांश खोलता है। 都 के साथ यह अलग करता है: 除了小明以外，大家都来了 (श्याओमिंग के अलावा सब आए)। 还 या 也 के साथ यह जोड़ता है: 除了汉语以外，他还会英语 (चीनी के अतिरिक्त वह अंग्रेज़ी भी जानता है)।
除了星期天以外，我每天都上班。 除了这个以外，还有问题吗？ 除了他以外，我们都去过北京。 The word after 以外 decides inclusive or exclusive.
除了星期天以外，我每天都上班। 除了这个以外，还有问题吗？ 除了他以外，我们都去过北京। 以外 के बाद का शब्द समावेश या अपवाद तय करता है।
At a restaurant: 除了面条以外，还有米饭吗？ At work: 除了星期一以外，我都有空。
भोजनालय में: 除了面条以外，还有米饭吗？ काम पर: 除了星期一以外，我都有空।
Do not mix the two meanings: 除了汉语以外，他都会英语 is wrong for besides. Use 还 or 也 for addition and 都 for exception. Keep 以外 with 除了 in the HSK pattern.
दोनों अर्थों को न मिलाइए: "के अतिरिक्त" के लिए 除了汉语以外，他都会英语 ग़लत है। जोड़ने के लिए 还 या 也 और अपवाद के लिए 都 लगाइए। HSK प्रतिरूप में 除了 के साथ 以外 रखिए।
First ask whether the second half includes or excludes the first item. If it includes, use 还 or 也; if it excludes, use 都. Then read the whole sentence to check.
पहले पूछिए कि दूसरा भाग पहली वस्तु को सम्मिलित करता है या अलग करता है। सम्मिलित हो तो 还 या 也; अलग हो तो 都। फिर पूरा वाक्य पढ़कर जाँचिए।
HSK 3 cloze often gives 除了...以外 and asks for 都, 还 or 也. The logic of the sentence, not the first half alone, gives the answer.
HSK 3 के रिक्त-स्थान प्रश्नों में प्रायः 除了...以外 देकर 都, 还 या 也 पूछा जाता है। उत्तर वाक्य के अर्थ से मिलता है, केवल पहले भाग से नहीं।
