大体上 means on the whole or roughly: it reports a general judgement while leaving room for small exceptions.

大体上 is an adverb placed before the verb or the adjective it limits: 大体上同意 means broadly agree. It allows a few exceptions, so it is weaker than 完全 and stronger than 大概.

In meetings and reports, 大体上 softens a judgement and leaves room for later changes. A manager who says 大体上可以 means yes in principle, not final approval.
बैठकों और रिपोर्टों में 大体上 निर्णय को कोमल बनाता है और बाद के बदलावों के लिए जगह छोड़ता है। प्रबंधक 大体上可以 कहकर सिद्धांत रूप में हामी भरता है, अंतिम स्वीकृति नहीं देता।
Learners use 大体上 for exact numbers or firm promises. 大体上三个人 is wrong because 三个人 is exact; say 大概三个人 or 大约三人 instead. Keep 大体上 for whole judgements.
शिक्षार्थी 大体上 का प्रयोग निश्चित संख्याओं या पक्के वादों के लिए करते हैं। 大体上三个人 ग़लत है क्योंकि 三个人 निश्चित संख्या है; इसके बदले 大概三个人 या 大约三人 कहिए। 大体上 समग्र निर्णयों के लिए रखिए।
Place 大体上 before the verb, never after it. If you can add 但有些地方除外 without a contradiction, 大体上 fits the sentence.
大体上 को क्रिया से पहले रखिए, बाद में कभी नहीं। यदि आप बिना विरोध के 但有些地方除外 जोड़ सकें, तो 大体上 उस वाक्य में ठीक बैठता है।
When a reading question asks about the attitude of the writer, 大体上 signals a moderate, accepting tone rather than strong support or rejection.
