Repeating a verb makes an action short, casual or tentative. One-syllable verbs repeat as AA: 看看, 试试, 想想. Two-syllable verbs repeat as ABAB: 休息休息, 商量商量, 打扫打扫. The pattern softens a request.
क्रिया दोहराने से कार्य छोटा, अनौपचारिक या हल्का लगता है। एक-शब्दांश क्रिया AA बनती है: 看看, 试试, 想想। दो-शब्दांश क्रिया ABAB बनती है: 休息休息, 商量商量, 打扫打扫। यह रचना अनुरोध को नरम करती है।
你看看这个。 Take a look at this. 我试试这件衣服。 Let me try this piece of clothing. 我们休息休息吧。 Let us rest a little. 你们商量商量。 Talk it over among yourselves.
你看看这个। इसे ज़रा देखिए। 我试试这件衣服। मैं यह कपड़ा ज़रा आज़माऊँ। 我们休息休息吧। हम थोड़ा आराम करें। 你们商量商量। आपस में ज़रा विचार-विमर्श कीजिए।
In a shop you say 我可以试试吗？ A colleague asks 你看看这个文件。 A host says 你休息休息吧。 The repeated verb makes the request feel light rather than like an order.
दुकान में आप कहते हैं 我可以试试吗? सहकर्मी कहता है 你看看这个文件। मेज़बान कहता है 你休息休息吧। दोहराई गई क्रिया अनुरोध को आदेश की जगह हल्का बनाती है।
Do not reduplicate a two-syllable verb as AABB: 休休息 is wrong; say 休息休息. Do not repeat 是, 有, 在, 喜欢 or 认识; these describe states, not short actions.
दो-शब्दांश क्रिया को AABB की तरह न दोहराइए: 休休息 ग़लत है; 休息休息 कहिए। 是, 有, 在, 喜欢 या 认识 को न दोहराइए; ये अवस्था बताते हैं, छोटी क्रिया नहीं।
If a repeated verb still feels too direct, add 一下: 看一下, 试一下, 休息一下. Both devices shorten and soften. Pick one per sentence; 看看一下 is redundant.
यदि दोहराई गई क्रिया फिर भी सीधी लगे, तो 一下 जोड़िए: 看一下, 试一下, 休息一下। दोनों उपाय कार्य को छोटा और नरम करते हैं। एक वाक्य में एक ही चुनिए; 看看一下 अतिरिक्त है।
HSK 3 asks for the correct repeated form. Count the syllables first: one syllable takes AA, two take ABAB. Then check the verb is an action verb, not a state verb.
HSK 3 सही दोहराया रूप पूछता है। पहले शब्दांश गिनिए: एक शब्दांश पर AA, दो पर ABAB। फिर देखिए कि क्रिया कार्य-क्रिया है, अवस्था-क्रिया नहीं।
