Sentence Patterns HSK6
对……而言 marks the person or group for whom a statement is true. It is close to 对……来说 but more formal, and it usually opens the sentence so that the reader knows whose viewpoint is being applied.

The frame is 对 + person or group + 而言，+ statement. 对初学者而言，发音最难。 对公司而言，信誉最重要。 The phrase names the group, then the main clause says what is true for that group. 而言 never stands alone; it needs the 对 phrase before it.
ढाँचा है 对 + व्यक्ति या समूह + 而言，+ कथन। 对初学者而言，发音最难। नए सीखने वालों के लिए उच्चारण सबसे कठिन है। 对公司而言，信誉最重要। कंपनी के लिए प्रतिष्ठा सबसे महत्वपूर्ण है। यह पद समूह बताता है, फिर मुख्य भाग बताता है कि उस समूह के लिए क्या सत्य है। 而言 अकेला नहीं आता; इससे पहले 对 वाला पद चाहिए।
对老年人而言，健康比财富更重要。 对这家公司而言，中国市场十分关键。 对学生而言，这次考试很重要。 对刚毕业的人来说，经验比工资更难得。 对城市而言，交通决定生活质量。 Each sentence names the group that the judgement applies to.
对老年人而言，健康比财富更重要। वृद्ध लोगों के लिए स्वास्थ्य धन से अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है। 对这家公司而言，中国市场十分关键। इस कंपनी के लिए चीनी बाज़ार बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। 对学生而言，这次考试很重要। विद्यार्थियों के लिए यह परीक्षा महत्वपूर्ण है। 对刚毕业的人来说，经验比工资更难得। नए स्नातकों के लिए अनुभव वेतन से अधिक दुर्लभ है। 对城市而言，交通决定生活质量। शहर के लिए परिवहन जीवन की गुणवत्ता तय करता है। हर वाक्य उस समूह को बताता है जिस पर निर्णय लागू होता है।
Editorials, policy documents, business reports and formal toasts use 对……而言 to compare priorities across groups. It is especially useful when two groups need different conclusions: 对游客而言，价格重要；对居民而言，安静更重要。
संपादकीय, नीति-पत्र, व्यवसाय रिपोर्ट और औपचारिक भाषण समूहों की प्राथमिकताएँ तुलना करने के लिए 对……而言 का प्रयोग करते हैं। यह तब विशेष रूप से उपयोगी है जब दो समूहों के लिए अलग निष्कर्ष चाहिए: 对游客而言，价格重要；对居民而言，安静更重要। पर्यटकों के लिए कीमत महत्वपूर्ण है; निवासियों के लिए शांति अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है।
The common error is to use 对……而言 as if it meant 对……的态度. 对他而言很好 is not about attitude; it means that something is good for him. Do not put the phrase after the conclusion, and do not write 对……而言上, because 而言 already closes the frame.
सामान्य भूल 对……而言 को 对……的态度 के अर्थ में प्रयोग करना है। 对他而言很好 रवैये के बारे में नहीं है; इसका अर्थ है कि कोई बात उसके लिए अच्छी है। इस पद को निष्कर्ष के बाद न रखिए, और 对……而言上 न लिखिए, क्योंकि 而言 ढाँचे को पूरा कर देता है।
Put the group first and the judgement second. Use a comma after 而言, and keep the same subject through the main clause. If the group is long, shorten it to a clear noun phrase such as 对新员工而言 rather than listing every person.
पहले समूह रखिए और बाद में निर्णय। 而言 के बाद अल्पविराम लगाइए, और मुख्य भाग में एक ही कर्ता रखिए। यदि समूह लंबा है, तो हर व्यक्ति गिनाने के बजाय 对新员工而言 जैसा स्पष्ट संज्ञा-पद छोटा कीजिए।
In HSK 6 blanks, 对……而言 and 对……来说 are often both grammatical, so choose by register and collocation. 而言 is the more formal choice in reports. Eliminate options that place the phrase after the verb or leave 而言 without a preceding group.
HSK 6 रिक्त स्थानों में 对……而言 और 对……来说 दोनों व्याकरणिक हो सकते हैं, इसलिए शैली और संगति से चुनिए। रिपोर्ट में 而言 अधिक औपचारिक विकल्प है। ऐसे विकल्प हटाइए जो पद को क्रिया के बाद रखें या 而言 से पहले समूह छोड़ दें।
