进而 means and then go further. It links a second action that develops the first one to a higher or deeper level. The subject normally stays the same, and the two steps must form a progression.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
The frame is first step + 进而 + further step. 先学习基础语法，进而研究高级句式。 The second action is not a mere result; it is a further development of the first. 进而 cannot join two unrelated actions.

कंपनी पहले उत्पाद सुधारती है, फिर बाज़ार बढ़ाती है। हमें पहले समस्या समझनी चाहिए, फिर उसे हल करना चाहिए। वह पहले उच्चारण का अभ्यास करती है, फिर पूरे संवाद की नकल करती है। टीम पहले प्रयोग पूरा करती है, फिर पूरे देश में लागू करती है। हर वाक्य आगे बढ़ने वाला कदम दिखाता है।
进而 is common in reports, plans and academic writing. A plan says 先试点，进而推广。 A report says 先分析数据，进而提出建议。 In casual speech 然后 or 再 is more common. The word signals a deliberate progression, not a simple sequence.
进而 रिपोर्ट, योजनाओं और अकादमिक लेखन में आम है। योजना कहती है: 先试点，进而推广। रिपोर्ट कहती है: 先分析数据，进而提出建议। अनौपचारिक बोलचाल में 然后 या 再 अधिक आम है। यह शब्द सोची-समझी प्रगति दिखाता है, केवल साधारण क्रम नहीं।
Learners use 进而 for a plain result, as in 他生病了，进而没来上课, where 因此 or 所以 is needed. Others use it when the subject changes, but 进而 normally keeps the same subject. Do not confuse it with 从而, which introduces a result or means rather than a further step.
विद्यार्थी साधारण परिणाम के लिए 进而 लिखते हैं, जैसे 他生病了，进而没来上课, जहाँ 因此 या 所以 चाहिए। कुछ लोग कर्ता बदलने पर भी इसका प्रयोग करते हैं, पर 进而 प्रायः एक ही कर्ता रखता है। इसे 从而 से न मिलाएँ, क्योंकि 从而 परिणाम या साधन बताता है, आगे का कदम नहीं।
Test the sentence with the question what is the next, deeper step. If the second clause only reports a consequence, use 从而 or 因此. If it reports a further stage of the same effort, use 进而. Keep one subject across both clauses.

HSK 6 cloze places 进而 beside 从而, 因此 and 以便. A progressive second step selects 进而; a result selects 从而; a purpose selects 以便. The presence of 先 in the first clause is a strong clue for 进而.
