Sentence Patterns HSK5
This pair lets a speaker accept a cost in order to refuse something else. The first half names what the speaker chooses, and the second half names what is being turned down.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
宁可 + A，也不 + B means the speaker chooses A even though A is hard, so as not to do B. The subject stands before 宁可 and is not repeated before 也不. 我宁可走路，也不坐那辆车。 The 也 is required in this pattern.
宁可 + A，也不 + B का अर्थ है कि वक्ता B को टालने के लिए A चुनता है, भले ही A कठिन हो। कर्ता 宁可 से पहले आता है और 也不 से पहले दोहराया नहीं जाता। 我宁可走路，也不坐那辆车। इस प्रतिरूप में 也 आवश्यक है।
他宁可少睡觉，也要把工作做完。 我宁可等一个小时，也不坐那么挤的车。 她宁可自己吃亏，也不让别人为难。 我们宁可现在辛苦，也不愿以后后悔。
他宁可少睡觉，也要把工作做完। वह कम सोना स्वीकार करता है पर काम पूरा करता है। 我宁可等一个小时，也不坐那么挤的车। मैं एक घंटा इंतज़ार करूँगा, पर उतनी भीड़ वाली गाड़ी में नहीं बैठूँगा। 她宁可自己吃亏，也不让别人为难। वह स्वयं हानि सहती है पर किसी को कठिनाई में नहीं डालती।
Newspapers and essays use 宁可…也不 to state a firm choice: 宁可慢一点，也要做得对。 In speech it can sound resolute or stubborn, so it is common in promises, protests and advice.
अख़बार और निबंध 宁可…也不 का प्रयोग दृढ़ चुनाव बताने के लिए करते हैं: 宁可慢一点，也要做得对। बोलचाल में यह दृढ़ या ज़िद्दी लग सकता है, इसलिए वादे, विरोध और सलाह में आता है।
Learners write 宁可…就不, but the second half needs 也: 我宁可不去，也不失礼。 Repeating the subject (我宁可不去，我不去) also breaks the pair. Keep one subject and the fixed 也 in the second clause.
शिक्षार्थी 宁可…就不 लिखते हैं, पर दूसरे भाग में 也 चाहिए: 我宁可不去，也不失礼। कर्ता को दोहराना (我宁可不去，我不去) भी जोड़ा तोड़ देता है। एक ही कर्ता रखिए और दूसरे उपवाक्य में स्थिर 也 रखिए।
Build the sentence in your head as cost then refusal: I would rather X than Y. Practise with 宁愿, the spoken twin of 宁可, so the pattern sounds natural in conversation.
वाक्य मन में पहले कीमत फिर इनकार के रूप में बनाइए: मैं Y के बजाय X पसंद करूँगा। 宁愿 के साथ अभ्यास कीजिए, जो बोलचाल में 宁可 का समान रूप है, ताकि प्रतिरूप बातचीत में स्वाभाविक सुनाई दे।
HSK 5 reading may leave the second connective blank in 宁可…____. The right answer is 也不; 就, 却 and 还是 all break the pattern. The meaning test alone rules them out.
HSK 5 पठन में 宁可…____ के दूसरे जोड़ने वाले शब्द पर रिक्त स्थान हो सकता है। सही उत्तर 也不 है; 就, 却 और 还是 इस प्रतिरूप को तोड़ देते हैं। अर्थ की जाँच ही इन्हें हटा देती है।
Q1. 把 “她宁可自己吃亏，也不让别人为难。” 译成英语。
“她宁可自己吃亏，也不让别人为难。” का अंग्रेज़ी अनुवाद कीजिए।
Answer: She would rather suffer a loss herself than trouble others
💡 宁可…也不 译为 would rather...than。
Q2. 他宁可少睡觉，___要把工作做完。
वह कम सोना स्वीकार करता है पर काम पूरा करता है: रिक्त स्थान में क्या आएगा? वाक्य: 他宁可少睡觉，___要把工作做完।
Answer: 也
💡 宁可 后面用 也 引出仍然要做的事。
Q3. 填一个字：我宁可不去，___不失礼。

Answer: 也
