宁可…也 states a preference with a cost: the speaker accepts the first option rather than a worse second one. 宁可 introduces the accepted choice and 也 introduces the avoided outcome.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
The frame is 宁可 A 也不 B: 他宁可走路，也不坐拥挤的公交车。 He would rather walk than take a crowded bus. 宁愿 is a common spoken variant of 宁可.
ढाँचा है 宁可 A 也不 B: 他宁可走路，也不坐拥挤的公交车। वह भीड़ भरी बस लेने के बजाय पैदल चलना पसंद करता है। 宁愿 बोलचाल में 宁可 का आम रूप है।
我宁可少睡一点，也要完成工作。 I would rather sleep a little less than fail to finish the work. 宁可现在辛苦，也不要以后后悔。 Better to work hard now than regret later. 她宁可自己累一点，也不让孩子受苦。 She would rather tire herself than let the child suffer.
我宁可少睡一点，也要完成工作। मैं थोड़ा कम सोना पसंद करता हूँ, पर काम पूरा करूँगा। 宁可现在辛苦，也不要以后后悔। अभी कठिन परिश्रम करना बेहतर है, बाद में पछताने से। 她宁可自己累一点，也不让孩子受苦। वह खुद थकना पसंद करती है, पर बच्चे को कष्ट नहीं देती।
This pattern shows strong values: 他宁可少挣钱，也要做喜欢的工作。 He would rather earn less than give up work he likes. Use it when a person accepts a cost for something important.
यह प्रतिरूप प्रबल मूल्य दिखाता है: 他宁可少挣钱，也要做喜欢的工作। वह कम कमाना पसंद करता है, पर पसंद का काम करता है। जब कोई महत्वपूर्ण बात के लिए कीमत स्वीकार करे तब इसका प्रयोग करें।
Do not use 宁可…也 when there is only one option; the pattern needs a rejected alternative. Do not drop 也 before the rejected action. Do not turn A and B around.
जब केवल एक विकल्प हो तो 宁可…也 न लगाएँ; प्रतिरूप को टाले गए विकल्प की आवश्यकता होती है। अस्वीकृत क्रिया से पहले 也 न छोड़ें। A और B को उलटा न करें।
Say the avoided outcome first, then choose the phrase after 宁可. Keep the second half negative: 宁可 A 也不 B。

HSK 4 listening may use 宁可…也 to show a strong feeling. The answer usually describes the choice the speaker accepts, not the one they refuse.
