Tones & Pinyin HSK1
Pinyin spells every Mandarin syllable as an initial (the start) plus a final (the rest). A few spellings look strange to an English reader, and those are exactly the ones to fix early.

Most syllables are an initial plus a final: n + i = ni, h + ao = hao. Some have no initial at all: ai, ou, an, ang. The tone mark goes on the main vowel, following the rule a first, then e, then the last vowel.
ज़्यादातर अक्षर आदि और अंत से बनते हैं: n + i = ni, h + ao = hao। कुछ में आदि नहीं होता: ai, ou, an, ang। स्वर-चिह्न मुख्य स्वर पर लगता है, नियमानुसार पहले a, फिर e, फिर आखिरी स्वर।
q is "ch" (qī 七 = chee). x is a soft "sh" (xǐ 洗 = shee). c is "ts" (cì 次 = tsuh). z is "ds" (zì 字 = dzuh). zh is "j" with the tongue curled (zhī 知). r is a soft mix of "r" and "zh" (rén 人). ü is a rounded "ee" and is written u after j, q, x, y (ju, qu, xu, yu).
q "च" है (qī 七 = ची)। x नरम "श" है (xǐ 洗 = शी)। c "त्स" है (cì 次)। z "द्ज़" है (zì 字)। zh जीभ मोड़कर "ज" है (zhī 知)। r "र" और "झ" का नरम मेल है (rén 人)। ü गोल "ई" है और j, q, x, y के बाद u लिखा जाता है (ju, qu, xu, yu)।
中国 Zhōngguó (China): zh-ōng, g-uó. 谢谢 xièxie (thank you): x-iè, xie. 学生 xuésheng (student): x-ué, sheng. 一次 yí cì (once): yí, c-ì. Say each initial slowly before you join it to the final.

A learner says 去 qù as "koo" or "kyoo" because English qu does that. In Mandarin q is always "ch": qù is "chü". The letter q has no other sound in pinyin. Learn the seven tricky consonants once and pinyin becomes exact.
शिक्षार्थी 去 qù को "कू" या "क्यू" कहता है क्योंकि अंग्रेज़ी का qu ऐसा करता है। मंदारिन में q हमेशा "च" है: qù "चू" है। पिनयिन में q की कोई दूसरी ध्वनि नहीं। सात मुश्किल व्यंजन एक बार सीख लीजिए और पिनयिन सटीक हो जाता है।
