Pinyin is written by grammatical word rather than by character. Word division, capitalisation and tone-mark placement follow fixed rules, and correct spelling makes both pronunciation and meaning easier to read.

Pinyin is written by grammatical word, not by character. 我们 is one word, 学习 is one word, and 汉语 is one word: 我们学习汉语。 A phrase such as 图书馆 is also one word. Capitalize the first letter of a sentence and the first letter of a proper noun: 北京 Běijīng, 北京大学 Běijīng Dàxué.
पिनयिन अक्षर-दर-अक्षर नहीं, व्याकरणिक शब्द के अनुसार लिखा जाता है। 我们 एक शब्द है, 学习 एक शब्द है, और 汉语 एक शब्द है: 我们学习汉语। 图书馆 जैसा पूरा शब्द भी एक साथ लिखा जाता है। वाक्य का पहला अक्षर और विशेष नाम का पहला अक्षर बड़ा होता है: 北京 Běijīng, 北京大学 Běijīng Dàxué।
我们学习汉语。 is written Wǒmen xuéxí Hànyǔ, not Wǒ men xué xí Hàn yǔ. 中华人民共和国 is Zhōnghuá Rénmín Gònghéguó, with spaces between the three proper-name words. 西红柿 is xīhóngshì, one word. 一会儿 is yīhuìr, with the erhua r attached. Tone marks go on a, o or e when one of them is present; in iu or ui, the mark goes on the last vowel.
我们学习汉语। को Wǒmen xuéxí Hànyǔ लिखा जाता है, Wǒ men xué xí Hàn yǔ नहीं। 中华人民共和国 को Zhōnghuá Rénmín Gònghéguó लिखा जाता है, तीन विशेष नामों के बीच खाली स्थान रहता है। 西红柿 का पिनयिन xīhóngshì है, एक शब्द। 一会儿 का पिनयिन yīhuìr है और एरहुआ वाला r जुड़ा रहता है। जब a, o या e में से कोई हो, तो सुर-चिह्न उसी पर लगता है; iu या ui में चिह्न अंतिम स्वर पर लगता है।
Pinyin appears on passports, street signs, train tickets and keyboards. A name written as Wang Xiaoming is easier to read than Wang Xiao Ming. When you type, the input method expects word-level pinyin, so correct word division also makes typing faster. Official signs follow the same rules, which is why 北京 is Běijīng and not Bei Jing.
पिनयिन पासपोर्ट, सड़क के संकेतों, रेल टिकट और कीबोर्ड पर दिखता है। Wang Xiaoming जैसा नाम Wang Xiao Ming से पढ़ने में आसान है। टाइप करते समय इनपुट विधि शब्द-स्तर का पिनयिन चाहती है, इसलिए सही शब्द-विभाजन टाइपिंग भी तेज़ करता है। सरकारी संकेत भी इन्हीं नियमों का पालन करते हैं, इसलिए 北京 का पिनयिन Běijīng है, Bei Jing नहीं।
The most common error is splitting every character: wǒ men xué xí. Another is writing no capitals at all, so a sentence and a proper noun look the same. Learners also put the tone mark on the wrong vowel in words such as liú and guì, or write nu for nü. Check the word as a whole before you check the letters.
सबसे आम ग़लती हर अक्षर को अलग करना है: wǒ men xué xí। दूसरी ग़लती बड़े अक्षर बिल्कुल न लिखना है, जिससे वाक्य और विशेष नाम एक जैसे दिखते हैं। कुछ लोग liú और guì जैसे शब्दों में सुर-चिह्न ग़लत स्वर पर लगाते हैं, या nü के लिए nu लिखते हैं। अक्षरों से पहले पूरा शब्द जाँचिए।
Say the sentence in natural word groups, then write each group without spaces. Ask three questions: is this one grammatical word, is it a proper noun, and where is the main vowel? Keep a short list of words you often split, such as 图书馆, 服务员 and 西红柿.
वाक्य को स्वाभाविक शब्द-समूहों में बोलिए, फिर हर समूह को बिना खाली स्थान के लिखिए। तीन प्रश्न पूछिए: क्या यह एक व्याकरणिक शब्द है, क्या यह विशेष नाम है, और मुख्य स्वर कहाँ है? जिन शब्दों को आप अकसर तोड़ते हैं, उनकी छोटी सूची रखिए, जैसे 图书馆, 服务员 और 西红柿।
HSK reading and listening items may show pinyin for a word you do not know. Correct word division tells you where one word ends and the next begins. In writing tasks, consistent pinyin also helps you look up characters in a dictionary.
पढ़ने और सुनने वाले प्रश्नों में कभी-कभी अनजान शब्द का पिनयिन दिया होता है। सही शब्द-विभाजन बताता है कि एक शब्द कहाँ खत्म होता है और दूसरा कहाँ शुरू होता है। लेखन में एक जैसी पिनयिन वर्तनी शब्दकोश में हानज़ी खोजने में भी मदद करती है।
