虽……然而…… concedes a fact in the first clause and answers it with a firm contrast in the second. 然而 is heavier and more written than 但是, so the pattern belongs to reports, editorials and formal argument.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
The frame is 虽 + admitted fact, 然而 + contrasting result. 虽 is a short literary form of 虽然. The second clause often carries 仍, 仍然, 却 or 也 to sharpen the turn. Example: 虽任务艰巨，然而大家没有放弃。 Do not add 但是 after 然而.

虽然天气很冷，然而大家仍然坚持训练। मौसम बहुत ठंडा है, फिर भी सबने अभ्यास नहीं छोड़ा। 虽工作繁忙，然而他每天读书। काम व्यस्त है, फिर भी वह रोज़ पढ़ता है। 虽有小雨，然而比赛照常进行। हल्की बारिश है, फिर भी मैच सामान्य रूप से हुआ। 虽多次失败，然而她没有失去信心। कई बार असफल होने पर भी उसने आत्मविश्वास नहीं खोया। हर जोड़ा एक तथ्य स्वीकार करके उसके विपरीत परिणाम बताता है।
News reports, editorials, academic writing and formal speeches use 虽……然而…… to sound measured but firm. In everyday conversation 虽然……但是…… is warmer and far more common. Keep the pattern for the page, not for a chat message.
समाचार रिपोर्ट, संपादकीय, शैक्षणिक लेखन और औपचारिक भाषण 虽……然而…… का प्रयोग संतुलित पर दृढ़ लहजे के लिए करते हैं। रोज़मर्रा की बातचीत में 虽然……但是…… अधिक सहज और प्रचलित है। यह ढाँचा लिखित पृष्ठ के लिए रखिए, चैट संदेश के लिए नहीं।
Two errors are common. First, doubling the contrast: 虽然……然而但是…… is wrong because 然而 already marks the turn. Second, using 所以 in the second clause: 虽下雨，所以比赛取消 treats concession as cause. Use 然而 + result, and keep one contrast word only.

Match the two halves by subject and tense, and put 仍, 仍然, 却 or 也 after the second subject. Read the pair as one unit: 虽 + fact, 然而 + still. If the second clause needs three contrast words to sound right, the sentence is probably too heavy for the register.

HSK 6 reading often removes the connector and offers 然而, 因此, 而且 and 只要. The admitted fact followed by an opposite result points to 然而. Eliminate 因此, which marks a result, and 而且, which adds rather than contrasts.
