Cloze tests give a short text with blanks and four words for each blank. Meaning alone is not enough; grammar, collocation and the logic of the whole text decide the answer.

A cloze gives a short text with blanks and four words for each blank. More than one word may fit the meaning, so check grammar and collocation first: 我每天坐地铁上班。 I take the subway to work every day. 坐 fits 地铁; 吃 does not.
रिक्त-स्थान प्रश्न छोटा पाठ और प्रत्येक रिक्त के लिए चार शब्द देता है। एक से अधिक शब्द अर्थ में फिट हो सकते हैं, इसलिए पहले व्याकरण और संयोजन देखिए: 我每天坐地铁上班। मैं हर दिन मेट्रो से काम जाता हूँ। 坐, 地铁 के साथ फिट है; 吃 नहीं।
Four checks: part of speech, collocation, grammar pattern, and the logic of the whole text. 不但…而且… needs its partner, so a blank after 不但 looks for 而且 among the options.
चार जाँच: शब्द-भेद, संयोजन, व्याकरणिक रचना, और पूरे पाठ का तर्क। 不但…而且… को अपना साथी चाहिए, इसलिए 不但 के बाद के रिक्त में विकल्पों में से 而且 खोजा जाता है।
他对音乐很感兴趣。 He is very interested in music. 对 fits 感兴趣. 请把窗户关上。 Please close the window. 把 fits the result pattern. 这个问题比上个难。 This question is harder than the last one.
他对音乐很感兴趣। उसे संगीत में बहुत रुचि है। 对, 感兴趣 के साथ फिट है। 请把窗户关上। कृपया खिड़की बंद कीजिए। 把 परिणाम वाली रचना में फिट है। 这个问题比上个难। यह प्रश्न पिछले से कठिन है।
In a notice the missing word is often a verb or a measure word: 会议举行了三小时。 The meeting lasted three hours. 需要一张票。 You need one ticket. Choose the word that the text around the blank demands.
सूचना में छूटा शब्द प्रायः क्रिया या मात्रक शब्द होता है: 会议举行了三小时। बैठक तीन घंटे चली। 需要一张票। एक टिकट चाहिए। वह शब्द चुनिए जिसकी माँग रिक्त के आसपास का पाठ करता है।
Learners choose by meaning alone and ignore grammar. 因为 and 所以 must pair, 虽然 and 但是 must pair. A word with the right meaning that breaks the pair is still wrong.
शिक्षार्थी केवल अर्थ देखकर चुनते हैं और व्याकरण भुला देते हैं। 因为 और 所以 की जोड़ी चाहिए, 虽然 और 但是 की जोड़ी चाहिए। सही अर्थ वाला शब्द भी यदि जोड़ी तोड़े तो ग़लत है।
HSK 4 cloze tests collocation more than meaning. Learn the fixed pairs and the common verb and noun combinations, because they repeat in the exam.
