与其…不如 compares two options and recommends the second. 与其 introduces the option that is given up and 不如 introduces the better choice.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
The frame is 与其 A 不如 B: 与其在家等，不如出去走走。 Rather than wait at home, it is better to go out for a walk. A is the rejected option; B is the recommended one.
ढाँचा है 与其 A 不如 B: 与其在家等，不如出去走走। घर में इंतज़ार करने के बजाय बाहर टहलने जाना बेहतर है। A अस्वीकृत विकल्प है; B सुझाया गया विकल्प है।
与其买新的，不如修好旧的。 Rather than buy a new one, it is better to repair the old one. 与其抱怨，不如想办法。 Rather than complain, it is better to find a solution. 与其等他，不如我们先走。 Rather than wait for him, we had better go first.
与其买新的，不如修好旧的। नया खरीदने के बजाय पुराना ठीक करना बेहतर है। 与其抱怨，不如想办法। शिकायत करने के बजाय उपाय सोचना बेहतर है। 与其等他，不如我们先走। उसका इंतज़ार करने के बजाय हम पहले चलें।
Use this pattern when you advise a friend or compare two plans: 与其坐车，不如走路，路很近。 Rather than take a bus, it is better to walk, the road is short. The recommended option usually sounds more active.
जब आप मित्र को सलाह दें या दो योजनाओं की तुलना करें तब यह प्रतिरूप लगाएँ: 与其坐车，不如走路，路很近। बस लेने के बजाय पैदल चलना बेहतर है, रास्ता पास है। सुझाया गया विकल्प आमतौर पर अधिक सक्रिय लगता है।
Do not swap A and B: the recommended option comes after 不如. Do not use 与其 alone; it needs 不如. Do not confuse it with 宁可…也不, which shows refusal.
A और B को उलटा न करें: सुझाया गया विकल्प 不如 के बाद आता है। 与其 अकेला न लगाएँ; इसके साथ 不如 आवश्यक है। इसे 宁可…也不 से न मिलाएँ, जो इनकार दर्शाता है।
First decide which option you recommend. Put it after 不如 and the other one after 与其. Keep both halves as parallel phrases.
