至少 means at least. It sets the lowest acceptable amount, number or condition, and it usually stands before a number or before the verb it limits.
Sentence Patterns — Word order, 是/有, questions, negation and the 把/被/了/过/着 patterns.
至少 marks a lower limit, the smallest thing that is acceptable. It stands after the subject and before the verb or the number: 你至少要学三个月。 You must study for at least three months. 他至少比我高十厘米。 He is at least ten centimetres taller than me.
至少 न्यूनतम सीमा बताता है, अर्थात सबसे छोटी स्वीकार्य बात। यह कर्ता के बाद और क्रिया या संख्या से पहले आता है: 你至少要学三个月। तुम्हें कम से कम तीन महीने पढ़ना चाहिए। 他至少比我高十厘米। वह मुझसे कम से कम दस सेंटीमीटर लंबा है।
至少有三十个人来了。 At least thirty people came. 你至少要吃一点儿。 You should at least eat a little. 这件衣服至少要两百块。 This piece of clothing costs at least two hundred. 就算很忙，你也至少要回个电话。 Even if you are busy, you should at least call back.
至少有三十个人来了। कम से कम तीस लोग आए। 你至少要吃一点儿। तुम्हें कम से कम थोड़ा खाना चाहिए। 这件衣服至少要两百块। यह कपड़ा कम से कम दो सौ का है। 就算很忙，你也至少要回个电话। बहुत व्यस्त होने पर भी तुम्हें कम से कम फ़ोन तो करना चाहिए।
People use 至少 when they bargain, plan or give advice: 你得至少提前半小时到。 You must arrive at least half an hour early. 每周至少运动三次。 Exercise at least three times a week. It also softens a strong sentence: 你至少要说声谢谢。 You should at least say thank you.
लोग 至少 का प्रयोग मोल-भाव, योजना या सलाह में करते हैं: 你得至少提前半小时到। तुम्हें कम से कम आधा घंटा पहले पहुँचना चाहिए। 每周至少运动三次। सप्ताह में कम से कम तीन बार व्यायाम कीजिए। यह तीखे वाक्य को नरम भी करता है: 你至少要说声谢谢। तुम्हें कम से कम धन्यवाद तो कहना चाहिए।
Learners mix 至少 with 最多. 至少 thirty people means thirty or more; 最多 thirty people means thirty or fewer. Do not put 至少 after the verb: 我去至少 is wrong. Say 我至少要去。 Also do not add 了 to 至少 itself.
शिक्षार्थी 至少 को 最多 के साथ मिला देते हैं। 至少 तीस लोग का अर्थ तीस या उससे अधिक; 最多 तीस लोग का अर्थ तीस या उससे कम। 至少 को क्रिया के बाद न रखें: 我去至少 ग़लत है। 我至少要去 कहिए। 至少 के साथ 了 न जोड़ें।
Before you choose 至少, ask what the smallest acceptable amount is. If the sentence allows more but not less, 至少 fits; if it allows less but not more, use 最多.
至少 चुनने से पहले पूछिए कि सबसे कम स्वीकार्य मात्रा क्या है। यदि वाक्य अधिक की अनुमति देता है पर कम की नहीं, तो 至少 उपयुक्त है; यदि कम की अनुमति देता है पर अधिक की नहीं, तो 最多 लगाइए।
HSK 4 reading and listening often use 至少 to give a guaranteed minimum. The question then asks how many or how much is certain, and the answer is the lowest figure, not the higher one.
